The Big Easy

After a couple of days in the Big Easy, I have some stories for the next podcast. I got to visit the Orleans Cigar Factory and take part in the biggest celebration on Bourbon Street since Hurricane Katrina.

I should also have some new cigars to review for the podcast. These babies are fresh from the rollers. We'll see what the mailbox has in store for me when I get home tomorrow night.

PS... I am drinking it slow for that reason alone. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do... Ration my rum!

Just listened to the podcast on the way home from work today. The Tres Hermanos line (listed as maduros but probably more appropriate to call 'em oscuros) from the Cigar Factory are my favorite line. I've got some sitting in the humidor now...they need a few months of aging for the flavors to develop. There's another cigar shop on the other side of the French Quarter, but I haven't been there. My favorite is a shop in Metairie (about 15 minutes outside the city) called Don Juan's. They've had three tastings this month (Fonseca was there two weeks ago and Oliva was there last night.
